Greek villages host traditional dance festivals in Lesbos and Pelion
On July 11, 2026, the village of Ippios on Lesbos held a large dance showcase organized by the Cultural Association "St. Procopius" with support from the local community. More than a dozen folk dance groups performed traditional dances from across Greece, while local officials—including the mayor‑deputy of Mytilene and the president of the Ippios community—gave brief speeches emphasizing the preservation of heritage.
The following day, July 12, 2026, the village of Stagiates in the Pelion region hosted its first "Antamoma sto Chorio" event, blending Orthodox liturgy with cultural festivities. The ceremony began with a Divine Liturgy led by Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias and Almyros, followed by a program of folk dances performed by local church and cultural groups. The event concluded with a greeting from the Metropolitan and traditional refreshments for attendees.
