Josh Jacobs placed on NFL Commissioner's Exempt List
The NFL has placed Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs on the Commissioner's Exempt List following misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property. The charges stem from a May incident involving a physical confrontation with his girlfriend. While on the exempt list, Jacobs is prohibited from practicing or playing in games, though he continues to receive his salary.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur expressed confidence that Jacobs will remain a member of the team, though his availability for the season opener remains uncertain. Legal representatives for Jacobs have stated that the allegations will be addressed in court and noted that the charges do not include domestic violence.
To mitigate the loss of their star running back, the Packers acquired running back Kaleb Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round draft pick. MarShawn Lloyd is expected to take on a primary role in the Packers' backfield in the interim.
