Green Bay Packers defense excels in win over Carolina Panthers
The Green Bay Packers defeated the Carolina Panthers 27-19 during a Week 8 Thursday Night Football matchup, improving their season record to 5-3. The victory was highlighted by a dominant defensive performance, as the Packers became the first team this season to record six sacks in a primetime game.
The defense held opponents to under 20 points for the fifth consecutive game. Head coach Matt LaFleur praised defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, describing him as a “savant” for the team's ability to apply relentless pressure. The Packers' defensive unit sacked Panthers quarterback Bryce Young six times, including a sack in the final 20 seconds of the game to prevent a late rally.
On the offensive side, Jordan Love and Christian Watson led the unit, while Josh Jacobs contributed two touchdowns.
