Josh Jacobs returns to Packers roster following domestic battery case

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been activated to the team’s 53-man roster, marking his 2026 season debut following a six-game absence. Jacobs had been placed on the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List following a May incident involving his then-girlfriend, which led to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property. Jacobs pleaded no contest to these charges in September.

While the criminal matter has reached a legal resolution, the NFL’s personal conduct investigation remains ongoing. The league has not yet announced any further disciplinary actions, though any potential suspension could be offset by the time Jacobs spent on the exempt list.

In his first game back against the Detroit Lions, Jacobs recorded 36 rushing yards and 55 receiving yards, including a 25-yard touchdown reception. Despite his individual contribution, the Packers lost the divisional matchup 20-17. The return of the three-time Pro Bowler comes at a critical time for Green Bay, which ranked last in the NFL in rushing production during his absence.
