Green Bay Packers sign veterans to bolster offensive line

The Green Bay Packers are restructuring their offensive line following a period of significant struggle, including a 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and league-low rushing production. To address these issues, the team has signed multiple veterans to bolster the unit.

Laken Tomlinson, a former Pro Bowl guard, was signed off the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad and added to the 53-man active roster. To facilitate this move, the Packers placed right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele on season-ending injured reserve and released defensive tackle Eric Johnson II.

Mekhi Becton, a former first-round pick, was signed to the practice squad following a workout. Becton is returning to football after recovering from shoulder surgery. Head coach Matt LaFleur noted that while both players bring significant experience, there will be a learning curve as they integrate into the offensive system.

These moves follow the recent signing of veteran guard Cordell Volson. The team's offensive line has struggled with both pass protection and run blocking, ranking last in the league in rushing yards per game through the first three weeks of the season.
