Green Bay Packers sign veteran tight end Jonnu Smith to one-year deal

The Green Bay Packers have signed veteran tight end Jonnu Smith to a one-year contract to bolster their depth at the position. Smith, 31, joins the team after being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Smith brings significant experience to the roster, having earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2024 with the Miami Dolphins, where he recorded 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns. His production dipped during his tenure in Pittsburgh, where he recorded 38 catches for 222 yards in 17 games.

The signing addresses immediate depth concerns in Green Bay. Starter Tucker Kraft is recovering from an ACL injury, and Luke Musgrave is currently on the physically unable to perform list due to a neck injury. Smith is expected to provide a versatile option for the offense, capable of playing as a traditional tight end or in the slot.
