Green Bay ranked as U.S. city with highest excessive drinking rate

A new study by 24/7 Wall Street has identified the cities with the highest rates of excessive drinking in the United States. The research analyzed nearly 400 locations, factoring in the percentage of adults who drink to excess, alcohol-related driving deaths, the density of restaurants and bars, and median household income.

Green Bay, Wisconsin, was identified as having the highest excessive drinking rate of any metro area considered in the study. Approximately 27% of the adult population in Green Bay drinks to excess, and alcohol is a factor in half of the city's driving deaths.

The study notes that many of the top twenty cities are located in Wisconsin, and the Midwest region generally shows higher rates of excessive drinking compared to the southern United States.
