Green Breeze wind farm in Romania begins commercial operations

The Green Breeze wind farm in Galați County, Romania, has officially entered commercial operation. Owned by Nala Renewables—a joint venture between Trafigura and IFM Investors—the facility has an installed capacity of 99.2 MW.

The project consists of 16 Vestas V162-6.2 MW turbines located in the Cuca commune. It is expected to produce approximately 312 GWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power nearly 51,000 households and prevent roughly 150,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

Apple has secured a long-term virtual power purchase agreement (PPA) with the wind farm, reportedly lasting 12 years. Under this financial contract, Apple will manage the difference between wholesale market prices and the agreed price. The project was developed by the Swedish company OX2, which also managed the construction and is now overseeing operations. Financing for the project was provided by BCR and Erste Group.
