Green Capital announces $3.3 billion data center project in Argentina
Green Capital, a firm with Polish capital, has announced a $3.3 billion investment to establish the ‘Atlas GigaHub’ data center in Trelew, Chubut. The project aims to provide high-capacity IT services for artificial intelligence companies, with a projected capacity of up to 3,000 MW.
Local residents have expressed concerns regarding the project's environmental impact, specifically citing potential noise pollution and high water consumption in a province currently facing a water emergency. Details regarding the specific energy sources and water usage have not yet been provided by the provincial government or the company.
In a separate energy development in the same region, the aluminum producer Aluar has expanded the La Flecha wind farm in Puerto Madryn. The complex now reaches an installed capacity of 582 MW, making it the largest wind farm in Argentina. This expansion is intended to reduce the company's reliance on gas for industrial production.
