Green Carnation releases new single “The Messiah Complex”
Norwegian progressive‑metal veterans Green Carnation have released “The Messiah Complex,” the second single from their forthcoming album A Dark Poem, Part III: The Messiah Complex, scheduled for release on 4 September via Season of Mist. The track closes the band’s A Dark Poem trilogy, which began with The Shores of Melancholia and continued with Sanguis.
Vocalist Kjetil Nordhus describes the final chapter as the strongest work in the series, while bassist and lyricist Stein Roger Sordal says the song reflects humanity’s habit of blaming external forces and its growing dependence on the digital world. The album will conclude with a 16‑minute orchestral suite.
Green Carnation will perform the entire A Dark Poem trilogy live on 12 September at the Kilden Performing Arts Centre in Kristiansand, Norway, and has additional shows slated for Hungary, Romania and Spain later in the month.
