Green Home promotes environmental education and sustainable tourism in Montenegro
The NGO Green Home has organized two distinct initiatives in Montenegro focused on environmental education and sustainable community engagement.
In Ulcinj, biology students participated in an educational visit to Velika Plaža to study the value of sand dunes and wetland habitats. The visit highlighted ecological threats, including recent fires that destroyed significant portions of wetlands and pine forests, as well as improper waste disposal and the leveling of dunes for parking lots. This activity was part of a project to strengthen the protection and management of the Bojana Delta, supported by the Critical Ecosystem Fund (CEPF).
In Pelinovo, Kotor, Green Home launched a pilot tourism project designed to involve visitors directly in local traditions and conservation. Participants engaged in community activities, such as building traditional dry stone walls in olive groves, to better understand the connection between heritage and land sustainability. The program aims to foster authentic experiences that support the preservation of local landscapes and customs.
