Green Hospitals project concludes cooperation between Portugal and Spain

The Green Hospitals project, a three-year cooperation initiative between Portugal and Spain, is concluding its activities. The closing ceremony will take place on September 17 at the ULS Algarve – Unidade de Portimão.

The project focused on reducing energy consumption and the ecological footprint within the healthcare sector. It aimed to address environmental challenges by identifying solutions to lower greenhouse gas emissions associated with hospital activities.

Xavier Barreto, president of the Portuguese Association of Hospital Administrators (APAH), noted that the initiative demonstrated how innovation and sustainability can serve public health. The project results will be presented to specialists and hospital administrators to discuss future steps for increasing the sustainability of Iberian health systems.
