Green iguana spotted near Maoluo River in Changhua County

An ecological photographer discovered a large green iguana, an invasive reptile species, near the Maoluo River in Fenyuan Township, Changhua County. The creature, estimated to be approximately 2 meters long from head to tail, was spotted hiding in thick grass near the riverbank.

The photographer, who frequently visits the area to document birds and wildlife, noted that while green iguanas are known to appear in various parts of Taiwan, this specific individual was significantly larger than the 60-70 cm specimens typically encountered. Upon noticing the photographer's approach, the animal became alert and retreated into the river.
