Green Montenegro International Film Festival opens in Žabljak
The XII Green Montenegro International Film Festival was inaugurated on the evening of 12 May at Žabljak, beneath the Durmitor mountain range on the shore of Black Lake. The opening featured a Silent Cinema experience with wireless headphones and a large LED screen. President Jakov Milatović opened the event, noting that the festival has been gathering audiences for twelve years and is the only Montenegrin festival fully dedicated to ecology and environmental protection, recognized internationally as part of the Green Film Network.
Culture Minister Tamara Vujović announced that from next year the festival will receive a status of special importance for Montenegrin culture. Ecology Minister Damjan Ćulafić praised the festival’s role in linking film art with nature, reaffirming his view that the event deserves national status and urging continued commitment to environmental stewardship. Actor Tihomir Stanić also addressed the audience, recalling his mother’s Montenegrin roots and expressing personal pride in the occasion.
