Green Party leadership changes in Lower Saxony

The Green Party faction in the Lower Saxony state parliament is undergoing a leadership transition following the immediate resignation of Julia Willie Hamburg. The resignation follows the emergence of a sworn affidavit alleging verbal sexual harassment.

Anne Kura and Detlev Schulz-Hendel have been confirmed to assume leadership of the faction. This sudden turnover is noted for its potential impact on legislative steering, regional budget allocations, and coalition stability, particularly regarding state-funded projects in infrastructure and energy transition.

Separately, the Green Party's Lüneburg district has scheduled several political events for late August 2026. These include discussions on mobility with Hamburg Senator Anjes Tjarks in Adendorf, climate protection with Environment Minister Christian Meyer in Bardowick, and a visit from Robert Habeck in Lüneburg.
