Green Party proposes new legislative initiatives in Mexico City

The Green Party (PVEM) has introduced two distinct legislative initiatives within the Mexico City Congress.

First, Deputy Yolanda García Ortega presented a motion requesting that the Tláhuac borough provide residents with detailed information regarding territorial reordering actions. The proposal seeks transparency concerning technical criteria, intervention plans, environmental impact assessments, and citizen participation mechanisms for projects affecting local infrastructure, commerce, and public spaces.

Second, the PVEM has proposed a reform to the Organic Law of Boroughs to mandate that all 16 boroughs in Mexico City allocate at least two percent of their annual budget to animal welfare and protection programs. Supported by Jesús Sesma Suárez, the initiative aims to secure permanent funding for sterilization, vaccination, rescue, and veterinary services to address animal overpopulation and public health risks.
