Green Party sues to remove Andrew Tupone from Pennsylvania ballot

The Green Party of Pennsylvania has filed a legal objection in Commonwealth Court to prevent Andrew Tupone from appearing on the ballot as a Green Party candidate in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. The party and two voters argue that Tupone is a “spoiler candidate” intended to distract progressive voters in a highly competitive race.

The objection claims that Tupone and his affiliates misled voters into signing nomination papers under the false impression that he was endorsed by the Green Party. Party officials noted that Tupone did not seek their endorsement and emphasized that the party only supports candidates aligned with its core pillars of non-violence, ecological wisdom, democracy, and social justice.

Records indicate that Tupone was a registered Republican for several years before switching to the Democratic Party in February 2026 and subsequently to the Green Party in April. Tupone has defended his candidacy, stating that his political beliefs have remained consistent regardless of party registration and that he aims to challenge the political establishment on issues such as universal healthcare and the conflict in Gaza.
