Czech builder Liko‑S reports green roof reduces industrial hall temperature by 5 °C

Libor Musil, founder of construction firm Liko‑S, said the green roof and façade of the new LIKO‑Street industrial hall lower the interior temperature by up to five degrees Celsius compared with a conventional metal hall. He explained that the vegetation and evapotranspiration keep wall surfaces around 30 °C, while standard façades can reach 60–80 °C, forcing air‑conditioning to work harder. The cooling effect means the hall needs roughly half the energy for climate control.

The building also incorporates water‑management measures and a 60 kW‑peak photovoltaic array, some panels installed vertically to produce power when electricity prices are highest. It is the company’s third green building and replaces one of the oldest production halls on the site. Liko‑S, founded in 1992, offers bespoke steel structures and live‑building systems and operates in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Poland and India.
