Green SM launches electric taxi service in Los Angeles

Green SM, the Vietnamese electric taxi service, has officially launched its operations in Los Angeles, marking its first entry into the North American market and its ninth global market. The fleet in Los Angeles consists entirely of VinFast VF 8 electric vehicles. Customers can access the service via the Green SM app, telephone, or by hailing vehicles directly on the street.

To celebrate the launch, the company is offering new users a 50% discount on their first five trips, up to 12 USD per ride, along with free registration for the Green Pass membership. The company aims to provide a high-quality experience based on five pillars: good vehicles, good prices, good drivers, good quality, and a good environment.

Simultaneously, Green SM appears to be preparing for expansion into Africa. Recent recruitment efforts on LinkedIn show the company is seeking personnel for 11 different positions in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, including roles for commercial directors and technology operations leaders. This follows previous Vingroup initiatives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to develop electric urban transport systems.
