Greendale Acquires Occombe Farm in Torbay, Plans Job Creation and Visitor Boost

Greendale Group has completed the purchase of Occombe Farm and adjacent land north of Preston Down Road in Paignton from Torbay Council. The acquisition includes plans to reopen the farm kitchen, play barn and nature trail, with former Occombe employees expected to return to the site.

The company aims to develop new retail and leisure facilities, including a farm shop, café, glamping areas and padel courts, to attract more visitors and stimulate the local economy. Greendale’s chief executive Rowan Carter highlighted a phased investment strategy that could create up to 200 jobs over time. Local leisure specialist Tom Shwenn, who will operate the farm facilities, expressed enthusiasm for restoring the farm as a leading family destination in the South West.
