Greene King reviews 65 UK pubs for potential sale

Greene King is reviewing approximately 65 pubs across the United Kingdom for potential sale as part of a broader estate strategy. The company is evaluating each site to determine whether to pursue an open sales process or a targeted off-market approach. Prospective buyers may choose to acquire individual locations or multiple sites as part of a larger portfolio.

This move is part of a larger restructuring plan announced earlier this year, which aims to convert or sell nearly 300 directly managed pubs. The strategy involves transitioning about 150 locations to lease, tenancy, or franchise models through the company’s Pub Partners division, while the remaining sites are analyzed for potential divestment.

Greene King intends to reinvest the proceeds from these divestments into its core business. The company, which operates around 2,500 establishments in the UK, is also focusing on central office changes, digital tool investment, and loyalty programs to support profitable expansion.
