GREEN×EXPO 2027 announces Moomin collaboration and commemorative coins

Preparations for the 2027 International Horticultural Expo (GREEN×EXPO 2027) in Yokohama, Japan, are expanding through new merchandise and commemorative currency.

Rights and Brands has announced a collaboration between the Moomin franchise and the Expo’s official mascot, Tunku Tunku. The partnership, centered on the shared value of “respect for nature,” will feature five licensed items including mugs, plates, handkerchiefs, and tote bags. These products are scheduled for release starting in January 2027 through the Expo 2027 Official Store.

Additionally, the Ministry of Finance will issue a commemorative 1,000-yen silver coin to mark the event. The coin will feature the mascot alongside six types of native Japanese plants. A limited edition of 40,000 coins will be available for 33,500 yen each. Sales are expected to begin in early December, with orders handled exclusively through the Japan Mint website rather than bank counters.
