GREEN×EXPO 2027 appoints Makoto Iyori as Chief of Protocol

The GREEN×EXPO 2027 Association has appointed Makoto Iyori as the newly established Chief of Protocol for the International Horticultural Expo 2027. Iyori, who previously served as the Consul General of Japan in Seattle, will oversee the reception and hospitality of domestic and international guests attending the event.

The expo is scheduled to take place from March 19 to September 26, 2027, at the former Kami-Seya Communication Facility in Yokohama, Japan. As an A1-class international exhibition, the event aims to attract over 10 million paid visitors under the theme ‘Scenery of the Future for Happiness.’

In related developments, the expo's official mascot, ‘Tunku Tunku,’ has been updated with new interactive capabilities. The mascot can now distinguish human voices and respond to conversation, a feature demonstrated during a recent interaction with Prime Minister Takaichi.
