GREEN×EXPO 2027 preparations underway in Yokohama

Preparations are intensifying for the GREEN×EXPO 2027, an international horticultural exhibition scheduled to take place in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, from March 19 to September 26, 2027. This event marks the first large-scale horticultural expo in Japan since the 1990 Osaka Expo and is expected to attract approximately 10 million visitors.

Students from Minami Kyushu University in Miyazaki Prefecture are actively participating in the event by designing and producing the Miyazaki Prefecture booth. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Naoko Makita, students are applying their expertise in landscape architecture and environmental horticulture to create a Japanese garden that captures the essence of Miyazaki, featuring motifs such as bougainvillea towers and elements inspired by Aoshima and Manai Falls.

The exhibition venue, located on the site of a former US military facility, will require significant logistical planning. Visitors are advised to utilize shuttle buses from stations such as Seya, Mitsukyo, and Minami-Machida Grandberry Park, as parking and bus services require advance reservations.
