GREEN×EXPO 2027 to feature themed Shinkansen trains and official merchandise
The GREEN×EXPO 2027 Association and JR East have announced the launch of specially wrapped Shinkansen trains to promote the upcoming International Horticultural Exposition. Starting September 16, decorated trains will operate on several lines, including the Tohoku/Hokkaido Shinkansen between Tokyo and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto, and the Joetsu/Hokuriku Shinkansen routes. The designs feature the official mascot, ‘Tunk-Tunk’.
In addition to the rail promotion, official licensed merchandise featuring collaborations between the mascot ‘Tunk-Tunk’ and the Yokohama character ‘Garden Bear’ will be released. These products, including hand towels, keychains, and mugs, are scheduled to go on sale starting September 5, 2026, at a pop-up store during the ‘Autumn Satoyama Garden Festa 2026’ in Yokohama.
The GREEN×EXPO 2027, themed ‘Creating Tomorrow’s Landscapes of Happiness’, will be held from March 19 to September 26, 2027, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. This marks Japan's first international horticultural exposition in approximately 37 years.
