Greenland government approves rare earth license transfer to Greenland Mines

The Government of Greenland has formally approved the indirect transfer of a mineral exploration license for the Sarfartoq Carbonatite Complex to Greenland Mines Ltd. This approval, granted via the Ministry of Business and Mineral Resources, fulfills a critical regulatory condition for the company’s $35 million acquisition of the Sarfartoq Neodymium-Praseodymium (Nd-Pr) Rare Earths Project from Neo Performance Materials Inc.

The Sarfartoq project is considered a significant undeveloped resource for the Western world, containing high concentrations of neodymium and praseodymium, which are essential for electric vehicles, wind turbines, and defense systems. Historical resource estimates indicate the site contains approximately 27 million kg of Nd oxides and 8 million kg of Pr oxides.

As part of the acquisition agreement, Neo Performance Materials will retain offtake rights on up to 60% of future ore or mineral concentrate production from the site.
