Greenland Mines to acquire Sarfartoq rare earth project

Greenland Mines Ltd (Nasdaq: GRML) is moving to finalize its acquisition of Neo North Star Resources, Inc., the owner of the Sarfartoq neodymium-praseodymium (Nd-Pr) rare earth project in southwest Greenland. The company expects to close the deal by September 1, 2026.

The total acquisition value is $35 million, comprised of $20 million in cash and $15 million in newly issued common stock. To fund the cash component, Greenland Mines initiated a public offering of common stock. The company has already secured formal approval from the Government of Greenland for the indirect transfer of the Sarfartoq mineral license.

As part of the transaction, Neo Performance Materials Inc. will become a strategic shareholder in Greenland Mines and will hold offtake rights for up to 60% of future production from the Sarfartoq site. An independent assessment indicates the project has a high-case pre-tax net present value of approximately $2.05 billion and a pre-tax internal rate of return of 118.6%.
