Greenland says Trump has withdrawn annexation proposal

Prime Minister Yns Frederik Nielsen of Greenland said on Friday that the United States has stepped back from any plan to annex the island. He told a forum in Aix‑en‑Provence that Greenland has faced "severe pressure" for two years because of its strategic location and that the pressure remains despite the reported U.S. retreat.

Nielsen affirmed Greenland’s commitment to self‑determination, security cooperation with democratic partners, and closer ties with the European Union, France, Denmark, NATO and Canada, while rejecting any notion that the territory is for sale.
