Greens Senator Jordon Steele-John faces internal probe

Senator Jordon Steele-John has taken leave from the Greens party room amid an internal probe into allegations of inappropriate behavior toward women spanning nearly a decade. Steele-John has rejected the claims, stating they attempt to “assert I am someone I am not.”

Reports indicate that the Greens’ Western Australia branch maintained a 47-page crisis management plan designed to manage media coverage regarding allegations against Steele-John and instructed staff to monitor social media chatter from party members.

Greens leader David Shoebridge, who assumed leadership recently with Steele-John’s support, has denied any prior knowledge of the allegations or the existence of the management document. Members of the Labor and Coalition parties have called for transparency, with Opposition frontbencher Sarah Henderson stating that an independent inquiry is appropriate.
