GreenUP Piemonte expands climate adaptation project to over 50 municipalities
The GreenUP Piemonte project, promoted by Fondazione AGRION in collaboration with the Piedmont Region, ANCI Piemonte, Legambiente Piemonte e Valle d’Aosta, UNCEM Piemonte, and Asproflor, has expanded its reach. The initiative, which aims to help municipalities anticipate climate change impacts on urban spaces, has grown from 31 participating municipalities in February to over 50 administrations following the addition of 20 new members.
The project has inaugurated the GreenUP Innovation Lab in Manta and released the first 30 territorial reports. Central to the initiative is GestMI, an analytical system designed by project coordinator Marika Cattaneo. This tool utilizes 18 chapters of analysis, integrating ESG indicators with environmental, economic, social, and territorial parameters to serve as a management dashboard for identifying risks and planning interventions.
Participating municipalities are engaging in an initial two-year program with the goal of establishing continuous sustainability policies. Giacomo Ballari, president of Fondazione AGRION, stated the objective is to create safer, cooler, and more beautiful environments for future generations while supporting the excellence of the Piedmontese agri-food sector.
