Greenvolt Power launches 200 MW battery storage facility in Poland
Greenvolt Power has inaugurated a 200 MW, 800 MWh lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery storage unit at Turośń Kościelna, connected to the 110 kV national grid. The installation, comprising 196 containerised battery modules and 49 transformer stations, acts as a large‑scale regulator, absorbing surplus electricity and supplying power during peak demand. From 2028 the plant will also take part in Poland’s power market under a 17‑year contract for 170 MW, representing 85 % of its nominal capacity.
The project underscores the rapid maturation of Poland’s grid‑scale storage market, where 33 electro‑chemical storage projects have secured contracts totalling over 1.7 GW for 2028, accounting for about 15 % of contracted power. Greenvolt is simultaneously completing a similar 200 MW/800 MWh facility in Ełk and developing a 600 MW/2.4 GWh project in Siedlce, which would become one of the largest battery storage systems in Europe.
