Greenvolt secures €218m for Polish battery storage projects
Greenvolt Group has secured a €218 million financing package from UniCredit to support two major battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Poland. The package includes €153 million in bridge facilities and a €65 million guarantee facility for the Ełk and Turośń projects.
These projects, located in northeastern Poland, have a combined capacity of 400MW/1.6GWh. They are among the largest of their kind in the country and are intended to enhance grid flexibility and renewable energy integration. The Turośń project was inaugurated in July 2026, while Ełk is expected to reach commercial operation in the fourth quarter of this year.
Other developers in the Central and Eastern Europe and Baltic regions are also advancing large-scale storage initiatives. Enlight has acquired a 125MW ready-to-build BESS project in Finland, while UAB Elesela has reached financial close for a 20MWh project in Lithuania. Additionally, European Energy is utilizing Capalo AI to optimize solar-plus-storage hybrid projects in Lithuania and Latvia.
