Greet GEO project showcases geothermal energy in Bjelovar and Križevci

The Greet GEO European project recently organized a study tour focused on geothermal energy potential in the Bjelovar and Križevci regions of Croatia. The program, coordinated by the Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute in collaboration with Terme Bjelovar d. o. o., brought together approximately 50 participants to explore the practical applications of geothermal resources.

In Bjelovar, participants reviewed the Wellovar Geothermal Sports and Recreation Park project, which is described as the largest project in the city's history. The tour included a visit to the Korenovo GT-1 borehole, located at a depth of approximately 1,290 meters, where water temperatures reach about 83 degrees Celsius.

The tour continued to Križevci, where attendees visited the Križevčanka-1 borehole and attended a presentation on the city's geothermal development at the Križevci Entrepreneurship Center. The Greet GEO project is funded through the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) instrument and aims to promote sustainable development in less developed European regions by connecting science, industry, and local stakeholders.
