Greg Daniels rules out a reboot of The Office
Greg Daniels, the creator of the American adaptation of ‘The Office’, has expressed that he does not see a need for a reboot or revival of the series. Despite the show's enduring popularity on streaming platforms, Daniels believes that the conclusion of the series, which aired in 2013, was well-received by the audience and should remain intact.
Daniels noted that attempting to revisit the lives of characters such as Michael Scott, Jim Halpert, Pam Beesly, or Dwight Schrute would carry a significant risk of undermining the original ending. He stated, ‘I don’t think it’s necessary to find out what all the characters are doing, especially given how the series ended. People seemed to like that ending, and it’s a big risk to try to revisit it.’
While a direct continuation of the Dunder Mifflin staff is unlikely, Daniels is exploring the mockumentary format through a new project titled ‘The Paper’. Created with Michael Koman, this series is set within the same universe as ‘The Office’ but focuses on the employees of a small newspaper in Toledo, Ohio.
