Greg Delaney disappearance case revived as family seeks new information
Greg Delaney, 21, vanished on 12 July 1989 after leaving his family home in Geelong (now St Albans Park), Victoria. He had been working as a chef at the Greenmount resort on the Gold Coast before flying back to visit his family. The night before his disappearance he spent time drinking and watching television, then walked out of the house after a brief argument with his father.
During National Missing Persons Week (2‑8 August 2026) his brother Paul and mother Pamela Delaney renewed a public appeal, asking anyone with information or any proof of identity – even a finger – to come forward. Greg was described as 165 cm tall, medium build, brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, wearing blue jeans, white Adidas sneakers and a black‑and‑white‑square jumper. Police searches at the time found no trace.
The family believes Greg may have hitchhiked toward northern New South Wales and fears he could have fallen victim to serial killer Ivan Milatis, who was active on the Hume Highway that year.
