Greg Rusedski advises Carlos Alcaraz to manage tennis schedule

Former world number four Greg Rusedski has advised tennis star Carlos Alcaraz to take greater control of his professional schedule, suggesting he follow the career management examples set by Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Alcaraz recently expressed dissatisfaction regarding the increased length of ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, which now span 12 days. Rusedski argued that Alcaraz has the financial stability to prioritize rest and strategic planning over mandatory appearances or appearance fees. He noted that while skipping certain tournaments might result in missing out on ATP bonus funds, Alcaraz’s significant earnings from titles and sponsorships provide him with the freedom to choose his participation.

Rusedski emphasized that Alcaraz should seek a balance to ensure longevity, pointing out that Federer often played fewer tournaments to maintain peak performance for Grand Slams. He suggested that the Spanish player should not feel pressured to accept all appearance fees if they lead to exhaustion.
