Greg Van Roten visits New England Patriots as free‑agent guard
Veteran offensive guard Greg Van Roten, 36, arrived at New England Patriots facilities on Thursday for a visit as a free‑agent candidate. Van Roten, who started every snap for the New York Giants over the past two seasons, has not missed a single offensive play in 2024 and posted the league’s 22nd‑best pass‑blocking grade among guards.
The former undrafted Penn standout began his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers in 2012 and has since played for the Seattle Seahawks, Toronto Argonauts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Las Vegas Raiders and the Giants. He entered the 2025 season on a one‑year deal with the Giants, appearing in all 17 games. His next contract is pending, and the Patriots are evaluating him for potential roster depth.
Van Roten’s career earnings total roughly $19 million, not counting his stint in Canada, and he remains one of the league’s most experienced interior linemen.
