Greggs to open 100+ new UK stores by end of 2026
British bakery chain Greggs announced plans to open between 100 and 110 new locations across the United Kingdom before the end of 2026, after having launched 34 stores earlier in the year. The expansion is part of a longer‑term drive to add 800 outlets and raise the total estate to about 3,500 sites.
The rollout includes the new self‑service format “Greggs Express”, with ten trial shops slated for petrol stations, and a continued focus on non‑traditional venues such as supermarkets, retail parks, hospitals and university campuses. In early 2026 Greggs made its first overseas opening at Tenerife South Airport in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail, and it aims to grow further into major transport hubs.
Chief executive Roisin Currie said the company remains committed to expanding convenience for customers while keeping prices stable, despite broader economic pressures such as Middle‑East volatility and energy price impacts.
