Gregorio Drayer joins NASA as civil servant
Venezuelan electrical engineer Gregorio Drayer has joined NASA as a civil servant at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama. He will work within the Control Systems Design and Analysis branch, focusing on engineering and system analysis for space programs.
Drayer holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar (USB), where he also served as a professor and researcher. He completed doctoral studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, specializing in automation and autonomous systems.
His professional background includes research at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and previous involvement in Mars exploration projects, including work at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. Drayer has expressed that his lifelong interest in astronomy serves as a tool for reflection and a motivation to encourage scientific inquiry in younger generations.
