Gregorio Paltrinieri and coach Fabrizio Antonelli end professional partnership

Italian open water swimmer Gregorio Paltrinieri and his coach Fabrizio Antonelli have ended their six-year professional collaboration. The separation follows Antonelli’s decision to accept a high-level position in China, where he will lead a development program for open water swimming.

Since beginning their partnership in 2020, the duo achieved significant success, including four Olympic medals, 13 world titles, and 16 European titles. Paltrinieri, now 31, expressed gratitude for the partnership, noting that the collaboration helped him surpass his own expectations regarding his career longevity.

The Italian Swimming Federation is currently working to reorganize its technical structure. Paltrinieri has confirmed his intention to compete in his fifth consecutive Olympic Games at Los Angeles 2028.
