Grenade Attack in Karachi Kills One, Injures Three Counter‑terrorism Police
A grenade was thrown at a Counter‑Terrorism Department (CTD) police vehicle near a private university in Gulshan‑e‑Iqbal Block 7, Karachi, on July 29‑30, 2026. After the explosion, gunmen opened fire on the police mobile, which was heavily damaged. The attack killed one person and injured three CTD officers, who were taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
Police and security forces secured the scene and launched an investigation. Authorities linked the incident to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Earlier a joint CTD and federal operation had uncovered four kilograms of explosives and detained suspects identified as Mujahid Baloch and Fareed Baloch, allegedly acting on orders from BLA commanders Sajid Baloch and Bashir Zeb. The investigation into the grenade attack remains ongoing.
