Grenade attack targets Japanika sushi outlet in Hadera, Israel

Police opened an investigation after a flash‑grenade was thrown at a Japanika sushi restaurant storefront under construction in the Aura residential complex on Herbert Samuel Street in Hadera, Israel, at around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday. No injuries were reported.

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks on Japanika branches across the country, including locations in Netanya, Afula, Herzliya, Givatayim, Kiryat Ono and Ramat Gan, where grenades, a pipe bomb and gunfire have been used. Authorities suspect the attacks are linked to a feud between the Mosli and Jaroushi organized‑crime families, reportedly over a multi‑million‑dollar cryptocurrency dispute. The chain’s owner, businessman Barak Abramov (also known as Barak Avramov), is not a suspect but is perceived as having ties to the Jaroushi family, making the restaurants a target.
