Gresham police seize alligator kept illegally in apartment

Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife troopers seized an alligator being kept illegally in an apartment in Gresham, Oregon. The reptile was discovered living in an aquarium following a tip provided to authorities.

To safely secure the animal, troopers worked alongside veterinarians from the Oregon Department of Agriculture. The alligator has since been transported to an approved reptile sanctuary.

Under Oregon law, the possession of alligators and other crocodilians is prohibited except under specific circumstances. Authorities have not yet confirmed if the owner will face citations or criminal charges.
