Gresini Racing riders injured during Assen MotoGP practice

During Friday's free‑practice session at the Assen circuit, both Gresini Racing riders suffered serious accidents. Spanish rider Fermín Aldeguer fell early, tumbling into the sand trap and was taken to the track medical centre before being transferred to a nearby hospital for chest and back examinations.

A few minutes later teammate Alex Márquez suffered a high‑side in corner 11, landing heavily and sustaining a contusion to his right shoulder and abrasions to his left arm. He was assisted by marshals, fitted with a helmet, and moved to the circuit's medical facility for assessment. The team confirmed, “Alex Marquez is declared to be reviewed tomorrow before FP2,” and noted that both riders’ ability to compete in the remainder of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend remains uncertain pending further medical evaluation.

The incidents have put Gresini's participation for the weekend in doubt, with the possibility of medical exclusions that could end the team’s race‑week early.
