Greta Gerwig’s Narnia adaptation faces boycott from conservative group
Greta Gerwig is set to direct a new film adaptation of C. S. Lewis’s ‘The Magician’s Nephew’ for Netflix, scheduled for a theatrical release on February 12, 2027, followed by streaming on April 2, 2027. The film features Daniel Craig as Andrew Ketterley, Emma Mackey as Jadis the White Witch, and Meryl Streep voicing the lion Aslan.
The production has drawn criticism from the conservative organization One Million Moms, which has launched a boycott and petition against the film. The group expressed concerns that the adaptation deviates from the spiritual roots of the original Christian allegory, specifically regarding the portrayal of Aslan. One Million Moms stated that the film is “not a movie Christians want to see” and accused the production of pushing a “leftist agenda.”
The trailer for the film also highlights a soundtrack featuring a remixed version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’.
