Gerwig describes the production as a ‘rock opera’ inspired by the music of David Bowie, Paul McCartney, and Pink Floyd. Meryl Streep has been cast to provide the voice for Aslan, a choice Gerwig made to capture a sense of wisdom, authority, and childlike wonder.

The adaptation shifts the setting from the early 20th century to post-war 1950s Britain. The cast includes newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell as Digory and Polly, alongside Emma Mackey as the White Witch, Daniel Craig, and Carey Mulligan.
