Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew trailer breaks viewership records

The trailer for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Netflix film, ‘Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew’, has achieved 481.3 million views within its first seven days of release. According to data from WaveMetrix, this performance significantly exceeds the initial viewership of previous blockbusters, including the ‘Barbie’ trailer (240 million views), ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ (281.6 million views), and ‘Wonka’ (237.2 million views).

The trailer’s popularity caused the official NarniaFilm.com website to briefly crash due to high traffic. The preview also marks a historic music licensing milestone, as it is the first time the band Led Zeppelin has permitted the use of their 1971 song ‘Stairway to Heaven’ in a film trailer. Jimmy Page expressed admiration for Gerwig, calling her ‘a powerhouse in the world of cinema.’

Directed by Gerwig and based on the works of C.S. Lewis, the film features a cast including Daniel Craig, David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell, Emma Mackey, and Carey Mulligan. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 12, following an exclusive 49-day cinema window before arriving on streaming platforms.
