Greta Gjoci released after imprisonment with four-month-old infant
Greta Gjoci, a mother of a four-month-old infant, has been released by the Special Court Against Corruption (GJKKO) after briefly being imprisoned alongside her child. Gjoci was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison for computer fraud and participation in a structured criminal group.
The case involves a call center operation led by Bruno Çobo, which allegedly defrauded Italian citizens of approximately 4.7 million euros. Gjoci was one of 16 individuals convicted in the scheme. Following the appellate court's decision to uphold the sentence, Gjoci was initially sent to the Pojskë prison in Korçë, where she and her infant were placed in a special section containing a nursery.
Her legal defense filed a request to postpone the execution of the sentence, citing her family circumstances and the presence of a minor child. Following this intervention, the GJKKO granted her release, though she is expected to return to prison after one year.
