Greta Thunberg visits Naples to address climate change and social justice
Environmental activist Greta Thunberg visited Naples, Italy, to participate in the Marea Village event held at the former NATO base in Bagnoli. During a press conference, Thunberg linked environmental issues to social justice and freedom, stating that the environmental crisis and the situation in Gaza both relate to these core principles.
Thunberg criticized industrial pollution in the Bagnoli area, describing the region as a battlefield where industries prioritize profit over the health and rights of the local population. She noted that the city and surrounding areas do not appear prepared for climate change and expressed support for local communities fighting to reclaim their territory and health from long-term contamination.
In addition to discussing ecological sustainability, Thunberg encouraged young people to channel their anger into action to reclaim their future. She also participated in discussions alongside Francesca Albanese and called for public participation in upcoming demonstrations regarding migration centers and Palestine.
