Greta Thunberg warns of global climate disaster regarding Brazilian election

Environmental activist Greta Thunberg has stated that a victory for Flávio Bolsonaro in the Brazilian presidential election would represent a “desaster for the entire planet.” In a video released on social media ahead of the runoff vote between Bolsonaro and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Thunberg emphasized that the election results will impact the future of the Amazon and the global climate.

Thunberg warned that the Amazon is being “openly threatened by the far-right” and could soon reach a point of no return. She called upon Brazilian youth to participate in the voting process to protect their future, noting that the eyes of the world are on the country.

Additionally, the activist accused Meta of interfering in Latin American elections and linked the political landscape to a wave of foreign intervention. She criticized the influence of foreign powers, specifically mentioning Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, characterizing the situation as an imperialist wave threatening regional sovereignty.
